Spectacular Pictures (January 26, 2007)
TheFairest.info host contests where people vote to select the best choice from a large pool of user-submitted options. Instead of the usual voting methods where people rank things or vote things up or down, they let people choose which of two things is better. Then every few minutes the server does some analysis and comes up with a list of the best things. It's a good system, and is free of a lot of problems other web-voting systems have, like a bias toward older items.

Long Time Lost is a free "service" that allows you to create a "search" for someone you lost touch with. That "search" is then indexed by Google (and other search engines) and then when that person you are looking for (or someone who knows them) does a "Vanity Search" (the process of searching for one's own name on Google) they find your "search" and can respond to you and reconnect. All information is handled through the system so your private information like your email address isn't out there on the net.

The same researchers previously showed that waltzing could help heart attack sufferers regain strength. The new study involved 89 men and 11 women, average age 59, with heart failure.
They chose waltzing because it is “internationally known” and is quite aerobic, as the study ultimately verified, he said.

According to data from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), in 2005, 16,885 people were killed in alcohol-related crashes - an average of one almost every half-hour.
