Have you done a vanity check lately? What is this? Also called ego surfing, you can go online and search for your name, and your family to see what has been posted online. If this information is inaccurate or disparaging you can do something about it. Contact the Web administer and ask that the information be corrected or removed. In extreme cases you can get an attorney involved. If you don't have time to do this yourself there are services, such as ReputationDefender.com that you can hire to do it for you.

The best defense is a good offense Start a Web site (Bits & Bytes can help you with this) about a topic you know best or highlights your family in a positive light. This will give you an opportunity to post positive content about yourself.
